Let's get this out of the way really fast: don't EVER open the back of the camera or remove the film. It will be the sudden, sad, and pictureless end to this project.
The red dots on the camera indicate switches/buttons you should NOT press, click, switch, or move.
Snap your photos! There's enough space on the reel for you to take four photos. You decide what to capture. Have so much fun with it. Just don't tell anyone, the surprise is the best part.
If you've never used a disposable style camera before, this guide is for you.
If you're indoors (even with lights on) or it's nighttime, make sure the camera flash is on by toggling the silver ring around the lens (by the blue dot) to flash ON, and give it 3-5 seconds to charge.
When outside, in daylight, or if its a VERY bright interior, turn the flash off by toggling the silver ring around the lens (by the blue dot) to flash OFF.
Yeah, that's it. Snap your photos, have a blast with it, and when you're ready, keep reading to send along the camera. If you need ideas, help, or just want to say hello, shoot me a text anytime.
The camera is ready to wander onward.
1) Wind up film by twisting the gear (below the green dot on the back of the camera) to the left. If it doesn't turn easily, its already ready for a photo.
2) Take a photo by pressing the shutter button on top of the camera. A quiet click means a photo has been taken. This camera takes half frame (vertical) photos. Use the viewfinder to make sure your subject is in frame.
3) After your last photo do not wind up the film again before shipping.
The time has come to send the camera on it's wandering way.
Check below to see who's next in line for the camera. You'll find them right after your name.
Find the envelope with the next person's name on it, and open it up to find their shipping label.
Use the same box you received the camera in. If the box is totally and completely fucked, shoot me a text and I'll send you a new one.
Put the camera back in the x-ray bag (the velcro bag it came in) and package it back up.
Make sure to include:
1)The camera + x-ray bag
2)The remaining label envelopes
3) The shipping tape
4) The spare battery.
Tape it up, put the next person's label over the current label. Remove or cross out any other stickers or packaging labels showing on the package.
Drop off at your nearest UPS store. The brown truck guys. NOT the blue post office guys.
Shoot me a text to let me know you've sent it on its way. Now, it's time to wait until everyone has had their turn and the photos are developed. I'll send pictures when they're ready. In the meantime, have a manhattan. Smoke a joint. And thank you for taking part! <3
See where the camera is headed.
